During their feature on the continual effort to retrofit LA’s buildings post the 1971 Sylmar earthquake, ABC7 Eyewitness news featured the extensive work our team is performing at the Lane Mortgage Building in DTLA.
Our teams are in the process of converting the twelve floor, 1923 building from a garment manufacturing facility into eleven floors of apartments and street level retail/hospitality.
Seismic work to the existing structure required excavation of the basement and tying all the existing footings together, a street side grade beam and new foundations for a full width moment frame reaching from the basement to the 12th floor. Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) wrap was also utilized extensively at strategic stress points throughout the entire building.
