Welcome to the Team; Ed Segura

We are excited to welcome Ed Segura to the team as a Senior Cost Estimator. Ed has over 20 years of experience in cost estimating across a diverse project base including projects for NASA JPL, Customs Boarder Protection and the Los Angeles Wilshire Metro extension. We caught up with Ed to go a little deeper:

What attracted you to Reaume Richardson?

The types of projects being performed and sought after.

How did you end up here today?

Since I was five years old, I have been passionate about the construction industry and various types of architecture. My father was a chief estimator for Albert & Chris Martin (AC Martin), Jacobs Engineering, and Parsons Corporation so when I was a teenager I decided to pursue an education in architecture and get into construction cost estimating. The decisions and goals I made for myself provided me with opportunities to work in the public, private, and federal sectors for various architectural firms, engineering firms, construction management firms, and general contractors with positions that dealt with preparing independent cost estimates (ICE) or bidding (RFPs) for various types of public, private, and federal programs and projects. I really took a liking to the types of projects that are being performed and sought after at Reaume Richardson so I decided to pursue an opportunity that was presented to me for a senior estimator position.

What is a favorite project you have worked on to date?

One of my favorite projects I have worked on is the Ewa Beach (HNL I.F.S.T.) International Flight Service Transmitter Facility in Honolulu, Hawaii. It’s a joint facility shared by the U.S. Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration that transmits weather reports across the Pacific Ocean. I got involved during the early stages of planning the new facility and was also heavily involved in the design as the project engineer. I was also tasked with a request to prepare a due diligence ICE to the Federal Government for the construction phase of the project as the senior estimator and was then sent to the project site to oversee the construction phase of the project once the bid was awarded as the on-site resident engineer. Having the opportunity to be involved on all sides of the house was one I am grateful for because of the knowledge and field experience I was able to attain.

What is one of the biggest work challenges you have faced?

Not knowing when to quit and stop working. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Do you have any hobbies and passions outside of work?

Music, Architecture, Gym, and Deep Sea Fishing.

Did you have a favorite childhood song and film/show?

The opening song for the show Sesame Street was my favorite song as a child and I really enjoyed watching the movie Cloak & Dagger.

If you weren’t at the office right now, what would you be doing?

Sleeping or working.

Anything else you want to share about yourself?

Currently thinking about pursuing a master’s degree.
